The Blessing of not blessing

Hosea 4:7

7 The more they increased,
the more they sinned against me;
I will change their glory into shame.

Sometimes we forget the blesser when we are surrounded by all his blessings, we forsake the giver for his gifts. We mistake the presents as the lover’s love. We sacrifice the splendor of his glory for temporal glitz.

It may be a gracious act of God when we are lacking, it keeps us holding on to him, seeking him for every need. Yes he wants to bless us! But not at the cost of us turning away and sinning more when we increase.

It is my prayer that instead of sinning more when I increase, I would recognize that it is the Lord’s providence that increases me.
