Update: Thoughts

I update because I want to remember this phase of life that I am at right now.

I am struggling with my school work, at first it was a lack of interest and motivation and now it seems like I will end up barely scraping through this semester. A part of myself tells me that as long as I get my degree it is all well and good but another part of myself accuses me of wasting my parents’ money.

I mean come on, do I even know how much it costs to send me here to study? It is hard to study something I cannot grasp or I refuse to try to grasp. I try but it doesn’t come easily, like History, or the Korean language, or even some Science subjects.

I just hope that I will make it through this semester and the next, then I’ll be a degree holder and my parents will be happy and if they’re happy then I am happy. I can then pursue the things I want to do.

“Hello world”, I will say that again when I am finally rid of this iffy phase in my life.

Funny Dream

I dreamt of Johann, Joey and Joel Tay! Haha, three Js, except uhm, me.

We were at a retreat of sorts, not overseas, but in Singapore type, ‘cos we had to sleep on some mattresses on the floor (like at CAMY retreat or something). This dream takes place in the waking moments.

Joel, Joey and I were up first and talking already… out of no where, Johann starts to sing a worship song, operatically of course! It sounds like “On my own” from Les Miserables, but it was a worship song!

Joel, his brother, then wonders aloud, “Eh is my brother sleep-singing?”… The rest of us laugh but Hann keeps on singing.

As Johann is reaching the end of the song, Joey does something priceless, he harmonises with Johann in the operatic worship song’s apex-end (it sounded like Joey was doing a soprano 1 part), and we ALL burst out laughing. Hehe.

I actually think it’s quite classic and totally possible moment within the few of us. Of course in real life, if Johann were really sleeping, he wouldn’t be singing, it would be a different sort of “singing”.

Luke 1:4

“that you may have certainty concerning the things you have been taught.” – Luke 1:4

We should have certainty in the things of God that we’ve been taught, not a wavering wheat stalk being blown in the wind but a rock solid confidence in the character, attributes and things of God!

Sometimes we as believers aren’t sure when we are questioned by unbelievers about our faith and about our God. It is a shame to not know about and not know the God we say we worship.

We go to church but we don’t know God, isn’t that a shame?

In v3, Luke writes this account for Theophilus in order that he may be certain, having a rock solid confidence in things that he has been taught.

One of the reasons the Bible was written is this, that “you may have certainty concerning the things you have been taught.”
