I just finished watching 경성스캔들 (Kyeong-seong Seo-kaen-deul) (Capital Scandal).
It is a romantic comedy with elements of suspense set in 1930s in Korea. It is a story of how love changes the worst of us.
It is a very funny show to watch! There are many comedic moments between lead actor Kang Ji Hwan and Han Ji Min! It’s got a good balance of heart-warming, comedic and heart-breaking moments.
I personally really liked the pace of the series, they did not skimp on details, did not stay too long on the unnecessary and developed each of the main characters well! In all it was a good job with only 16 episodes.
The beautiful actresses were a bonus to watch, the Koreans never fail to tell a heart-wrenching love story despite it being a comedy. Go watch it! I umm give it 4 out of 5.
I had a terrible dream! I dreamt I was in a prison or torture chamber of sorts.
There was someone with me, he was supposed to be executed by having his head chopped off. He was worried if they were gonna chop it clean at the neck so he kept bugging the executioner, asking and asking if it was going to be a clean cut.
The executioner got irritated and said to him, “I will chop of your hand, at the wrist and then chop your head off.”
I think this stranger got worried if he would die from bleeding to death with his wrist wound.
Next up was me. I was going to have my hand chopped off, I think I was being punished for something. Then I thought, “Which hand should I let them chop?”
As if I had a choice.
I decided on my left hand, since I am right-handed. Then it occurred to me! “How am I supposed to play the guitar in future!”
I got scared and I woke up. “O! It was just a dream!”, I thought to myself, relieved.
PS: The executioner was my screen texts tutor! ARR!!!
The dream took place in a really small room, I think it was a gig or a worship hall.
Our usual interactions took place! Things that always happen whenever I’m with Daniel!
Two things:
1) I didn’t let him use the better amp, so he was plugged into the small amp. But then, I didn’t have to play yet so I let him use the big amp. Hahaha, this always happens, from level 3 hall, to Blob’s studios or whatever place we are at. Daniel always expresses interest in the better amp but will let me have the better one. Thanks bro.
2) So I was saying, I let him use the better amp. I was helping him change the cables as they weren’t long enough. While changing the cables, the jack hit the neck of his Maton guitar! “Kok.” And what did Daniel Heng say? He said, “Eh, tsk, wah lau!”
Hahaha, it really is what always happens between us. I’ll still remember the time when I let his Batman kiss the floor, the Batstraps were not in place.. I still feel bad up till today.
PS: Dan you were also playing the saxophone in my dream.
Edit 13.11.2008: Added post to Oyster Friends category.
Update: I’ve also since paid for the repairs of the Gibson SG (I think).
“And it’s okay
If you had to go away
Oh, just remember the telephones
Well, they’re working in both ways
But if I never, ever hear them ring
If nothing else
I’ll think the bells inside have finally found you someone else
And that’s okay
Cause I’ll remember everything you say” – You and I both by Jason Mraz

I am watching a Korean Drama titled: 원더풀 라이프 / Wondeopeul Laipeu, a.k.a. Wonderful Life starring really, Kim Yoo Jin. She’s super pretty and cute. Hahaha. I love gushing about female stars, suddenly.
Anyhow it’s a good series really, it talks about responsibility, family and a mother’s love.
I’m only at Episode 7 and I’ve gotten Gavin hooked onto it!
I dreamt of my mum, it was very real leh. I wanna go home fast!
I don’t really remember much of the dream, so I thought, “better blog before you forget that you dreamt of your mum”.
Haha, I do believe it was a mundane dream, but it is the mundane that happens all the time and that which I miss so much, like buying char beehoon for breakfast and having teh my mum makes. It’s just different from the one I make here.
I live in an apartment complex now and it’s never been different, I’ve lived in apartments ever since I was born.
But somehow, this time, it has taken over me. I am talking about the lifts. Like in most apartments, there are more than two lifts and naturally, one lift is nearer to my unit.
Let me tell you, I am obsessed with wanting to take the lift nearer to my unit. Let me show you what I mean:
I keep going the blue route when in fact both routes are about the same, I think it’s a design flaw to have only one lift button in the middle!
In one week I saw, Brooke Fraser, Pillar and… Switchfoot!!
Brooke Fraser first. What can I say she was great! She sang great, I knew most of the songs from Albertine and to top it off she was really funny, very candid too!
The show started with the band taking their instruments and starting an instrumental. Right at that moment I was reminded of the band Eight and thought to myself, “They sound very kiwi.” Because in my mind, I made the connection of Kiwi with Brooke Fraser and Eight.
Brooke then walked onto stage and the crowd cheered! She started singing the C. S. Lewis Song! That was a pretty good start!
I will try to describe her humour, although that kinda thing is pretty hard to write.
She changed guitars after the first song, and while replacing the jack there was some noise and she said, “Oops.”
After the 2nd song, she removed the capo of her guitar and signalled to her techie that she wanted to use the other capo. But the techie didn’t get it, so Brooke had to ask for it! Over the microphone!
She then apologised to the audience and said that she had meant to do it subtly! *Cue laugh* Ok. So I did not manage to capture her humour, just imagine she’s very candidly funny k?
Her other jokes included the facial hair one, her bloody green mucus, the drummer living at 7 and a half mile and drinking red wine with antibiotics. They aren’t jokes per se, just anecdotes that were very funny?
Highlights of the gig were not JUST the spoken parts but the sung parts! Her voice, even though she was not well she sang really well!
The band that accompanied her was really good! Nigel from Hillsongs was there too! Haha. Everyone was brilliant in their own right. The keyboardist stood out much! She played keyboards, sang backup, did some percussion and even played a mean viola. Listen to “Hymn” for an idea of how it sounds like, the viola.
It was a great night for Christian music, for God’s music. It got me thinking about what I want to do with my gifts and talents. I want to use them all for God’s glory. I want my music to speak of God’s greatness, love, mercy, His justice and holiness. I want my life to echo his character. Use me Lord.
If I could fold a paper boat
Place all my feelings in it
And send it away
I would
—
I only just learnt how to fold paper boats, I had always wondered how to fold the boats when I was in primary school. I’d see my peers fold them but I never did ask them how to do it.
